December Apple Orchard - with "mummies"

The Hudson Valley side of Columbia County remains a viable, if threatened by development, apple growing area. This is a apple orchard in early December 2006. I've just learned that the final, unpicked fruit is by now referred to as "mummies" as they shrivel up with the cold.
