Wow! It makes me wonder what the original explorers thought as they came through a pass in those mountains and saw that scene.

Thank You! Unfortunately the scan is not up to the standard of the original print, but DV is always one of my favorite places to photograph.
A good reference read is "Death Valley in '49" by Robert Manley, which really captures the hardships endured by 19th century settlers traveling thru this area.
