Dead Poppy Heads - Paper Negative

Dead Poppy Heads - Paper Negative

This is a different version of a recent post. I wanted to try and experiment a little with paper negatives to see what the effect was. Becasue there are a lot of flecks and spots on the original 4x5 negative (old Petzval lens which I did not clean well!) I contact printed this on MGIV, then recontact printed that positive to get paper negative (this time on RC MGIV). I soaked the paper negative and peeled off the backing paper to have the thin RC coat whith some residual paper left. After drying I simply used that as a negative in the enlarger. It gives a really impressionistic feel which is different to the sharper original. More of a bit of education for me really but welcome your thoughts. May tone this with selenium and sepia.

I like this idea and this still life looks interesting with how you did it. I would like to see how a landscape works with this technique and it would be educational if we could see before and after.
