I see that there has been more than 90 views of this image and no one has made a comment... (I've viewed it at least 5 times myself since it was posted).... OK here goes:
The vertical alignment is tilting left which really destroys the compositon. the idea behind this photograph is a good foundation, but the execution is not well handled. You should have moved in closer to pick up more of the objects of interest (i.e. the design in the wrought iron and the urn inside the small court yard)... this could have been accomplished while still retaining the archway. Also, a smaller aperture would have given better depth of field and made the image much sharper. A tripod and cable release is a must for this kind of photography.... My advice is to go back and re-shoot several images of this subject under differing lighting conditions to improve the quality.

Yet, flawed as it is... it has a nice mystery to it. What goes on behind that arch? Light is lovey... lots of potential here.

I am still new to this, so your input is most welcome. I can correct the tilting of the photo in the darkroom, but obviously the aperture is something else (I think you are right, by the way). I think I will go back there.

I think burning in the highlights at the bottom and cropping the top would make the image stronger. - jim
