The Light source seems to be coming from both sides, but there is no evidence of 'cross lighting' and it is wonderful effect.

@Raphael beat me! That's exactly what I thought as soon as put my eye on this picture. Jokes aside, beautiful picture. I like the texture of well focused old skin, hair and beard.
