Thanks everyone for the comments. This was an image that I'm still not sure if I want it as dark as it is. In reality, the palm branches formed a light canopy over everything and there weren't any real dark shadows to be seen.
This print is only a check print and my final printing has yet to be done. I'll probably try it in both Platinum and silver but go a little lighter that what this image shows. I think I'm going to go back and re-shoot this getting the centering right and maybe try an 8 x 20 along with the 8 x 10.
I agree with you in that I think you've printed it too dark. I would try printing it lighter, and leaving the contrast alone (for a silver print, anyways). That will open up the shadows, and give you better whites (which look a bit depressed, at least on my screen).
In regards to composition, if you're going to re-shoot it, definitely move to the right. The left-hand tree trunk lends a heaviness to the left edge that unbalances the print. You could crop, but I think that would ruin the 'panoramic' feel to the print.
