I thought everyone has done the Daibutsu at Kamakura from the front, so I decided to do a profile. I almost got arrested for climbing on top of one of the monuments there, but managed to talk my way out of it. I thought this view reflected more peace and repose than a typical front shot.
For those who fear for the health and safety of an old man, this was taken in 1959.
I agree-- the profile shot is nice. It is good to see a different perspective--this has been shot so much. I have a picture my grandfather took in the '40's.
I missed this when I was in Japan, spent 1/2 day at Kita-Kamakura and thoroughly enjoyed it.
