Your title vs your description seems confusing to me but that is no problem at all...I am referring to "cyanotype" vs "ilford mgrc" which I am interpreting to mean Multigrade Rc
If one is going to take a portrait of another human being that is intended to be a bit flattering I much prefer that the camera be high enough not to be looking up the nostrils. I know that no representation is being made that a flattering end result was desired.
thanks for the comment, thats my mistake with the description!
flattering is not something i always look for in my portraits. This was a college brief that called for a creative 5x4 portrait focusing on the eyes. I was trying to create a little tension and attitude with this pose.
I like the open nature of these kind of briefs and always try to make them my own and take the chance to do something new, rather than re-hash the same standard lighting setups over and over.
I think this is a very powerful portrait. I love the Cyan, the pose and the focus. Really nicely done, not always easy with a 4" X 5".
Are you at Napier?
Best,
Rory
