Cyanotype Study #1

I shot this after waking up from a nap. The light on my bedroom window sill looked quite interesting, and you see the result. Critique everything please!

Hi athanasius.

Nice image / gadget... A note: It seems that you need some more contrast with your negatives. Try to develop more (by 50%, or even 100%). Keep the EI the same. Cyanotypes need fairly contrasty negatives -> a density range (DR) around log 1.5. (This is quite high compared to log 0.9-1.1 DR you need for silver-gelatin.)

Regards,
Loris.

It has mood, the captured lit is attractive, I would prefer more contrast, the print (cyanotype) is quite flat for my taste. But I never tried cyanotype, so it is probably difficult to find proper exposure etc.

How many times did you coat the paper? Sometimes you can get a better print by multi coating your paper.

i really like it just like it is!
i am sure it would have a different feeling if it had more contrast
but soft sun is the feeling i get from this. it really makes me think of a long time ago.

great job!

This is great, I also takes my imagination to a previous time, super content. Sure would like to see another try, I've never done cyano either, but I think this neg is certainly worth a repeat. Another interesting note is that the single round notch in the film edge is exactly like the Arista / Freestyle brand notch!
