Cyanotype fruit

Cyanotype fruit

Trying to fine tune my cyanotype process, by matching the neg density to the print process.
Neg was dev for 18 mins in rodinal 1:25@20c to try and give me around 2.0 density. I'm not quite sure it got there but it prints much better than the normal silver negs.
I have ordered the chems for salt printing and will try this neg.

Print was exposed for 28 mins under UV solarium. Citric acid bath, washed in tap water.

Very good. I'm not all that familiar with cyanotypes but from other prints I've seen around it appears that the whites on this print are actually white and not a light blue. The print has a smoothness to it. It looks great.

You might also try bleaching the negative and redeveloping it in Pyrocat MC. This will increar the contrast more for cyanotype than for bromide.

This is single coated (with foam brush) and no dichromate. The neg had extra dev to increse density range. Thats all that different from 'normal'

The image certainly shows more brilliance than most cyanotypes. I will be interested in following your further excursions into this process.

This negative should be close to the DR needed for salt as I find it needs the longest scale negative of any processes I have tried.
