I'm surprised that muley didn't take off in the opposite direction when you turned and looked at her. Years ago, in central Idaho, we were hunting mule deer and followed a buck's footprints for hours in the snow. Turns out he circled around and followed us, as we discovered when we stood up from a rest on a log and saw his tail taking off across the ridge top.
This is a nice study that captures well the alertness and caution of these animals. I can see her concentration on all sounds coming in those big ears.
