Franco and Fabio, students at the Martianos elementary school in Varadero, Cuba. I liked the dynamic of twins for this image, seems to fit in with a 21st century Cuba.
This was done on 16x20, I just took a digital photograph of the print, so please forgive the low-tech digitalization (not to mention the wrinkles in the fibre base paper).
Absent the Che Guevara poster in the background, these could be a couple of boys from almost anywhere. In my mind, that is the charm of the photograph.
That's a good point, ctscanner -- Cuba is really amazing in the variety of faces and races there. In the same class, there were these blonde, fair boys and a black (and I mean black) girl, with almost every tint in between. I'd heard of this but it's amazing to see for oneself. Thank you for the comments, all.
That photograph of Guevara was made famous by an Irish Graphic Artist called FitzPatrick, as far as I can remember, who turned it into a graphic representation. It's a great photo, but the chap was not a nice man, to say the least. I think that his mother was Irish, or of Irish descent.
