Crosses

Crosses

Taken in the french village of St Severen (sp?) a few years ago - and the print was made shortly afterwards.

The walled cemetary would keep the spirits from escaping, while the flowers in the foreground would be picked by relatives for the graves.

Beautiful print and for me, the blurry foreground works well.

Someone should tell them that spirits can walk through walls.

Love the mood in this one.

Thanks guys. I have gone on and off the blurred foreground many times, thinking that perhaps a little less might have worked better. Nevertheless, it remains one of my favourites and is still hung on the wall.

Cheers,
Ciaran

I feel a crop at the top of the sky would give your photo a greater sense of imbalance .

'Imbalance' is a good thing?

I've played with a few variations - some off the top, some off the bottom, a square crop and so on. I think you can spend too long in indecision - so i just stuck with, hung and have lived with this version. I might try something else in the future.... or tackle one of the many other unprinted negs I've got lying around!

Cheers,
Ciaran
