He He, another one for my favorites gallery! Jim do you believe any other developer would have worked with this image? Did you happen to make a similar exposure at F 8 ? From this print, it looks as if you could go 1 stop either way and still maintain a very nice printable negative.
Charlie, I probably jumped the gun. I am going to re-print tomorrow to get the hot areas down a bit. Actually I did a second at 1/4 sec f5 but you will recall that between f4 and f8 with this lens the image changes drastically. I liked the f7 image the best. f5 was just too soft. Timing was by my ear / packard shutter / bulb. One huge mistake that maybe some day I'll begin to see in time is the distracting light behind the sitters head.
Jim the only issue i see is the distraction behind his head - this works well on all other counts for me - a little pot ferri for the whites of the eyes maybe!?
That's a fantastic portrait Jim; I really love this. The sharpness of the lines of the forehead and the softness just an inch north of there makes for a really compelling image. Nice work!
