Crater Erosion

The interplay of water and rock remains a mystery for me. This photo was taken at Lac du Cerf, a lake near where I was born, and everything is pretty much granite over there.

I have no idea how water could have eroded granite thus, in a multitude of tiny craters. Rain then tiny whirlpools? Any geologists over here?

This type of formation is found in the sandstone at water's edge out here on the west coast. Have always thought tides/waves/salt/sand had their part in eroding. I had no idea it could be found on fresh water lakes.
Now I want to hear from the geologists as well.

The erosion is interesting, however, the photo is great. The lighting is just right to show the textures and the colors are mysterious. I can see this as a wall mural.
Yes, I would also like to hear from a geologist.
ps. I just went back and looked some more. Those rocks in the upper right look like stage masks. Very interesting.

Very interesting picture. Agree with above, it looks like two faces! Great texture and colours.
