Crab fishing 23/12/07

Met this guy who was 'trawling' for crabs off the wet end of Southend pier. He uses the crabs for bait. He throws half a dozen netted frames, all hung with old meat and weighted with a half brick, over the side of the pier and pulls them up fifteen minutes later full of crabs. When he's done that trolley will be full to the brim.

Andy. Looks to have been a damp, cold and foggy day. The shot and B&W medium has caught this well. Just wouldn't have looked right in Kodak VR.

Thankyou PU, John.

PU, yes it was cold and damp, but nicely peaceful in the fog a mile and a quarter offshore with just the pier fog horn sounding. You're right, Kodak VR would not have cut it, it also doesn't fit in the Bronnie, lol!

This is the first of two shots I made of this gent. Here is the second.

Really beautiful! Wonderful subject, composition, contrast... everything about it. It's the sort I like best! I'm with John - love images of people doing.

It’s a great shot, and I really like how you printed it.

All best

Thank you everyone for your comments. This was an awkward print to make, I ended up having to ramp the contrast right up to grade 3!
