There are courtyards like this scattered throughout the Marais district - little windows into hidden worlds that you wouldn't know existed if you didn't look down the alleyways. And sometimes the big doors on the street are closed and you'd never see them at all.
I was tickled at how well this negative turned out - that I was able to keep detail in the passageway without completely burning out the courtyard within. I also like how it leads the eye without pointing it directly, due to the balance between symmetry and irregularity.
I really like how well the combination just WORKS - it doesn't show off, or scream "look at me - I'm a special film/developer combo!", but it delivers results without being obvious. I can count on the results I get being very consistent.
