This is a cool image. I tried what mark did and felt the same wow, but I like the original too.
I like your toning work on this.
How did you get those guys to sit so still for four minutes? Did you check them for a pulse? Should we call 911? (And since it appears to be two guys, they might have an issue with you calling them a couple...)
I like the feel of this picture. There is some strange vertical murky blue bands on right side and yellowness in clouds. Perhaps this is from a scanning problem, but picture would be much better without these artifacts.
I like the image and the toning. Don't feel anything "wow-like" when I crop the image, so please keep it this way...
I agree with Jon Shiu about the blue bands on the right side, though. No problems for me with the yellowness in the clouds.
re: crop out the beach, that looks good but then it's an entirely different scene of course. I might do more with this neg, not sure.
re: toning, blue bands, too much yellow highlights. Yes, that is not your imagination. I do not usually tone prints this extremely preferring subtle split-toning and also because often small defects show up when toned / bleached this much, even after a thorough washing. I once had the pleasure of talking to Roman Loranc at an opening and he told me that a percentage of his prints end up ruined, unsellable because the toning created some undesirable effects..
The beach on the right of the couple ( guy & gal BTW) is the normal expos. I dodged the beach to the left starting at below and left of the couple.
