Cornwall APUG gathering - Saturday

Saturday was nightmare weather all day and I really struggled to get anything half decent on film. This was taken late in the evening after I'd left the group to go and see a friend in St Ives. The light had suddenly changed from terrible to spectacular and I managed to grab a couple of shots while it lasted which was only for about minute.
Wished I could have got this on colour as the sea had turned an amazing turquiose and the sky was almost black. This is almost a straight print with hardly any dodge/ burn. The black line on the horizon is exactly how it was at the time

Thanks all.
Amongst the painting community this place is almost world renowned for its 'quality of light'. Sounds a bit cliched I know but of all the places along the North Cornwall coast I've been (and thats pretty much all of them !) there really is something special about Porthmeor and it's probably the reason why St Ives is bursting at the seams with artists !

Ah! So thats what Cornwall looks like when it's not raining! Great photo Bill. I must say, my trip to Cornwall has definately inspired me to return to the area. Wonderful place. It looks like a trip up to St Ives is in order.

Thanks for sharing, and slow down Bill, your putting us all to shame ;>)

Nice shot Bill - it has a great feel to it. I guess the actual print must look well good!

It is a fantastic shot Bill after quite a dramatic day. It didn't clear like this at Land's End.....

Not got around to shooting at Porthmeor (yet!), the cafe at Porthgwidden tends to suck me in! Agree about the colour of the sea in St Ives. It is quite remarkable and regarding the light, it seems to radiate there.
