Cornwall APUG gathering - Saturday

Saturday was nightmare weather all day and I really struggled to get anything half decent on film. This was taken late in the evening after I'd left the group to go and see a friend in St Ives. The light had suddenly changed from terrible to spectacular and I managed to grab a couple of shots while it lasted which was only for about minute.
Wished I could have got this on colour as the sea had turned an amazing turquiose and the sky was almost black. This is almost a straight print with hardly any dodge/ burn. The black line on the horizon is exactly how it was at the time

Bill, maybe carry another back with colour neg for those sort of rare occasions? Still it looks pretty good to me as sepia selenium. Conveys the atmosphere that you describe very well

Sorry about the poor scan - I can never get these bloody things right

Thats a really nice photo Bill, the light tones of the breaking waves and foam are really set off by those black ominous clouds.

It looks awfully good on my monitor, 'poor scan' or no. I am not sure if using color would have improved on it - only provided a different look.

It's an amazing print and photograph, Mr Spears.

I am definitely disqualified to comment like this, since I'm extremely biased to the subject matter of ocean, but this hits all the sweet spots within me; I can smell the ocean salt, I can taste the air - I love this print.

Good stong simple image Bill which has really caught the mood. I look forward to seeing this one in the flesh at our next local meet.

Neil.
