Not the first, nor I'm sure the last time that someone has taken a picture of a corn lily, but I still kind of like this shot.
Any comments on composition, cropping or anything else would be welcome.
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks,
I used a yellow (k2?, the standard one) filter, and +2 development on this one. The plant was in open shade when I took the shot. I think I agree about cropping out the small leaves on the very bottom. I have done this on some of my other work prints of this one...

Very nice image. Does not matter if it's been done before or whatever, your image is still your own and seen well.
The slight crop is needed. I like it cropped right up to where the borner of the images ALMOST touches, but does not touch the large leaf that hands down on the left had side. By doing this, it creates a nice flow in the image and does not have that darker section of just the lower leaves at the bottom.
Other than cropping out the "little" leaves at the very bottom, I wouldn't change a thing. This is an absolutely amazing image that really captured my eye. I have one (dumb) question though. What exactly is a corn lily?
Thanks for all the kind comments.
Barbara Ann, not a dumb question - it actually sent me to my books, and then to the internet.
First, a corn lily is something that I cannot apparently spell, my botanist friends would likely be mortified. Corn Lilies are a flowering plant that I seem to find in wet subalpine areas. Shortly after snowelt, they emerge, and their young leaves are, I guess, remeniscient of corn leaves. The picture is of a relatively young plant. They grow quite a bit taller and flower.
Perhaps someone else can lend a little more information...
Thanks for the crop recommendation, Ryan. I do like the effect of that crop.
Mike
When I first looked at this image, I thought it was shot with IR. It has a very nice toner. Kind of glows. I would love to see it in a warm brown tone.
