I think "pensive" in a portrait is more valuable than smile, just as questions are more valuable than answers. Still, people pay for smiles, especially when they're hiding something ....
I'm not sure about Hue's expression. I'm not looking for a commercial smiley type of image, but I don't want to portray him as joyless either. I guess I was just going for the dignity of work and the pride of having one's own work. Great conversation, all!
