A lot of the interest comes from extrapolating what will be from what is already there. I am not an engineer (something the world should be thankful about), but this sort of construction seems normal. I suspect that it has to do with balancing stresses. It makes for an interesting subject.
I was just there two days ago. I think they're leaving the span that crosses the water until the structures on both shores are done; at least that was my guess while driving by. You found a good place to put the camera here.
