Mmm.... sugar snaps, a favorite of mine. My plants are about 6 inches tall. It'll be awhile before we've got any to eat (or photograph if I can control myself long enough).
I like the lighting (window light, I assume) and the lovely curve to the line of peas.
Thanks! This scan kinda sucks, I look forward to the print, I am obviously aiming for pearlescent tones on the peas and the scan doesn't really show that. Yes, sly, it was window light. Actually... afternoon open-door light.
I really like this but when using a large format camera why is part of it out of focus? You shot this a F/11! Why not 22 or even 64. Yes the times would have been as high as 16 to over 20 min. But who cares. The camera is on a tripod and not going anywhere. I have had exposures as high as one hour. Just set a time to remind me I was getting close to the end.
Again I love the shot

Hi Mike, thanks I have a bunch of other negs, this one may not be the most optimal one in terms of focus. About the long exposure, I tried to focus as best I could with some stronger lights on but they were too hot and the pod was moving on me. So I just sort of winged it on this one. But looking at my 6x8 negs, several of those are sharper throughout.
Well, for a 1:1 macro (or thereabouts, I'm guessing) with a 5x7, and with artistic placement, it's really good, and the oof bit doesn't bother me at all. Especially if you rotate the scan clockwise by 90 degrees.
We just planted our peas - we're a little late this year. Really like the S-curve of the peas, and the soft lighting. Be sure to post when you print this.
