Huis van Schagen / St. Maria Gesticht

"Huis van Schagen" is a complex of buildings of which the oldest parts date back to the 15th century. Important modifications were made by Johan van Beveren van Schagen, who lived here from 1584 to 1601. The central gate dates from 1631, but the most far reaching modifications to the complex were the conversion into a nunnery and catholic girls school in 1881, hence the Maria statue in the back, and recently the conversion into a luxurious apartment complex.
