This is a gum over Pt/Pd. It was one of the ones I considered for the alt exchange. I chose another, though I really like this one. I hesitated posting this, as I'm anxious it will seem more shocking than the other nudes we see on APUG. Breastfeeding is not often seen here. How did you react to this photo?
"Shocking" is NOT a fitting description. A "jolt" to the "conditoned reflex" is closer. That conditioning is in itself a fault of the western hemisphere society. It invariably results in a re-alignment of one's belief of propriety. Natural, beautiful - and in someway "not right" in our screwed up society.
BRAVO ... a wonderful photograph!
Beautiful yes - shocking no. I probably feel more uncomfortable than my sister in law when she feeds our 10 week old niece - that is shocking - our culture has to lot to answer for in this respect. The only slight distraction is the fabric under her arm.
Wow! Thank you everyone for your generous feedback. It's a puzzle to me that I felt a bit squeamish about posting this (not about taking or printing it!) I breastfed my own children (for much longer than is the North American norm) and in my work I'm a strong advocate for breastfeeding on a daily basis.
Wildbill, hope you're having fun with your little one - it's great to be intimately involved as they explore the world.
Metageorge - hope things go well getting your Korona shipshape.
Carl, she has a tattoo, not fabric, under her arm and down her side.

Shocking... not one bit. Beautiful, serene, peaceful, tender... yes. Don't be squeamish. Our younger daughter breastfed, also for a long time. The imagery is wonderful; keep it up.
Agree with tony. It's not a nude shot, it's an emotional/nature shot. I like much the ear piercings and the hint of the tattoo -> where I live people with piercings and tattoos are regarded as "marginal" (almost like aliens in some circles...) and this image is a nice proof for those idiots that in fact were are all humans, we're all the same.
It's beautiful. Breast-feeding is not considered shocking hereabouts (Helsinki, Finland). I'm a member of a local photo club where, not long ago, the woman in charge of running activities headed up meetings with her breast-feeding baby, feeding him as needed during the course of proceedings. I was, I admit, struck at first by the image of her making Powerpoint presentations at the front of the room while simultaneously cradling and breast-feeding her son. What a photo opportunity! But I didn't have the courage. Rgds, Svend
