Into The Mist

My light meter broke down in the soggy mist, so I had to guesse exposure, something I have never before done. Luckily worked out reasonably well, but I unfortunately underdeveloped the negative. However, again luck, at grade 5, I still managed to pull out this print.

wow, marco. this is absolutely stunning!! It has so much depth, you could almost walk right into the scene! Perhaps the underexposure and grade 5 worked in your favour?

Beautiful print. Great image.
Such a wonderful paper..put into retirement by the new masters.

What they all said...Really beautiful print Marco.

It took a while before I found the book & name of the photographer Adriaan Boer from the '20, in which his work reminded me of yours.
a quote in Dutch: "Ik ga uit van het beginsel dat fotografie, hoewel in zichzelf een onpersoonlijke techniek, tot kunst kan worden in de handen van een, de techniek beheersend, artistiek aangelegd werker."

sometimes it takes a little accident, like underdevelopment in this case, to create a happy result ..... very appealing image with lots of mood and depth

Thanks all for the nice comments,

I even forgot to mention one other "accident" that happened with this image... I reversed the negative in the holder! It had the emulsion side to the back when the image was exposed... something that has never happened to me before, but of course, for everything is a first ;-). Interestingly, it seems not to have affected the image in any way. It is really sharp and not worse exposed than another image I shot at the same spot with another aperture setting. I did not use the other negative, since this one had better exposure, and better depth of field. I simply reversed the negative in the negative carrier...
