She only has a couple of months left before she hits ten and I am finding myself forlorn that over half her years with me are soon to be gone. So out came the beast for the first time in far too long. Not perfect but we only had time for two exposures and this one didn't turn out too bad.
Very nice! Children growing up is always bittersweet. Just do the best you can, and they should turn out fine. You can then be proud of them as adults. I sure am with my kids.
Very beautiful. While I am not sure of the symbolism of the barrel (a receptacle of her hopes and dreams?), the steps leading off up into her distant unknown/unclear future are powerful.
I have been photographing my three boys with my 8x10 (platinum prints, and sometimes carbon) in the environment (with the same or longer exposure times) for many years. They are 12 years old, and it has been a while since I got them in front of the 8x10 -- thanks for the reminder that I need to do so again. I might be able to do something with the boys in Yosemite this month -- might be a bit corny, but I am thinking of something with the Three Brothers (peaks) in the background. Also, thanks to you, I will consider the use of the lens wide open instead of my usual closed-down-everything-in-focus. Rarely have I seen a shallow depth of field used so effectively.
Very beautiful Monsta. Brings a lump to my throat. I have two out the door, and one not far behind the others. Smart to catch it now, because once girls hit the early teens, it is something like the second stage rocket firing on life's rocket sled.
