The Last Men Standing, St Pancras 2009

The Last Men Standing, St Pancras 2009

Maybe one of the last of the Chelsea Pensioners from WWII? A traditional sight in the UK, they are those soldiers, who through their exceptional individual acts of bravery have earned it to spend the remainder of their days kept comfortable by the state. They are provided with accomodation and get to spend their last days with comrades. Not long before the Red Tunic may disappear from our street I think. With Armistice day one week away, seemed a good time to post it.

Thanks for looking. Rgds, Kal

Lovely shot Kal, the only small point would be his eyes, I would love to have seem them a little clearer but that would come out in a print I know. Great face with some amazing stories to tell, I am sure. The gentleman is a WW2 veteran from his medals. The first star is the 1939-45 Star given to everyone who was on operational service and the second, I think is the the Burma Star, so he most probably had a tough time in the Far East during the Second World War. Wonderfully dignified man captured really well. Thanks, E.
