My Brother On Wet Plate Collodion

A black glass ambrotype made in studio with the pilot lights of my studio flash and 2 uv tl-lights, the latter cutting down exposure time by half.

What does "black glass mean"? Does it implies a change in skin color, from white to black? Interesting concept/idea/method...

Black glass means the photo has been taken on black glass instead of film as a medium.
The black glass has been treated with a layer of Collodion which serves as a holder for the silver nitrate which gets applied after the Collodion layer to make it light sensitive. The plate is then being exposed and immediately developed and fixed.

Really grabs me! It's unusual to find portraits that are so involving.
 
The skin tones and gaze work out very well in this portrait... good work!
