Despite 96+ F temperatures and high humidity, it was nice to get out to the aquatic gardens with Diwan and Scott.

Damn Kal... thanks! Genesis is an interesting reference to make, I thought of the radial patterns as evoking the sun, but the fallen petal makes me think more of the end of a life or such, and perhaps the beginning of another. In any case, these are very thought provoking plants!

And thanks Andrew too. I am mulling how to print it. I also have some b&w versions on neopan so maybe I'll play with those first, but the funny thing is that the pollen is rendered as distracting dust blobs in b&w, whereas the yellow blobs make some sense in the colour version. Maybe I will try some handpainting.

Incidentally, I recently came across Steichen's wonderful photographs of lotus blossoms and it appears that he was very drawn to the seed pods- nice to see his very different b&w take on the same subject. Here is an example.
 
Wonderful, it's not just the delicate colours that attracted me to this shot but the great composition. Everything seems immaculately placed and the darkening of the edges touch it off perfectly. Thanks.
