Oregon Spring

While on a photo road trip with a friend of mine, we pulled over to see if there was anything going on in the marshy woodlands. I didnt see anything and after 20 minutes I went back to the car. This roadside water fountian (on top, out of the frame) was 10 feet in front of the car. The light was changing rapidly, as it was soming through the trees. This was out in the middle of nowhere, and the faucet was running when we got there. I can only assume it was from a spring. I had to stop shooting a few times as passerbys would occasionaly stop, fill up their water bottles and drive off.

Nice tones, texture and light. The water movement has been well rendered. However, to me the tap itself looks soft - given that the pipe appears to be sat in quite a large hole I wonder if this has moved under the pressure of the water.
 
Has this been published? It looks very familiar to me. And for what it's worth I like the shot.

Thanks for the comments. I get that "urban feel" comment quite often about this image, even though it was alongside the highway in the middle of a forest. In the actual print the faucet is sharp; I think that the smooth contours make it appear softer than it actually is because of the contrast with the sharper contours of the concrete. Its also a little blown out in this scan.

It has not really been published, although I did use it for an ad in B&W magazine a month or two ago.

I have a question for you guys: Do you think that the white highlight at the lower-left edge of the frame helps to keep that side interesting or does it pull the eye off the image?

I go back and forth with whether I like it or not, but this is the way I usually print it.
 
I ight be tempted to burn the edge of the step a little as it's so close to the edge of the frame and also the light area to the right side of the tap - sorry faucet - as I feel that draws the eye away and competes a little - just an opinion since it was asked for. I am sure that this makes a superb print!
