My only image taken of this area. In the bottom left corner you will see Keith Tapscott braving the elements. Barry Wilkinson was also with him but had tucked himself against the rocks to escape the rain.
Great place and actually one of most challenging to photograph. It's my nemesis! I always pay this place a visit when I go home to Cornwall, but I have yet to get an image I Am 100% comfortable with!!
Yes I agree with Andrew that this is a challenging location - especially in B&W . I quite like this colour image though as it has caught the mood and the lone figure (Keith!) helps you appreciate the scale we looking at here.
Neil.
Mmmm! I think you are being a bit hard on yourself Andrew. You have a cracking lith image in your portfolio of this area. It was with that photograph in mind that I was so looking forward to visiting this area. I think coming away with an image that has not been done before is the hardest challenge here. The area deserves at least a whole day being spent amongst these old ruins, which we clearly did not have.
It was great having Neil Souch with us, being a local, he filled us in with the history of the area. It really is quite fascinating to hear, and he painted quite a picture in ones mind. The suffering the young workers went through really was quite something.
My next visit will be far longer, and then on to Wheal Francis for much of the same.
