I have a difficult time focusing on any particular subject within the frame. What's the focus of attention? The tree or the water fall? Judging by the title, I'd recommend using the other elements in your frame to support the main attraction, now perhaps it's stealing the attention a little bit too much.
Also, why is the water fall cropped?
You have lovely tones, good textures. The light seems a bit harsh for the subject matter. The flare around the tree works, I think.
If the tree was the main attraction, the framing of the tree crown is nice.
"Also, why is the water fall cropped?"
I was limited by the angle of view of my lens ( I had only brought 1 on that day) and the waterfall was like 100+ feet tall.
I shot multiple angles and tried to mix the foreground/background content.

A straight shot of the waterfall just caught the top and bottom, but was really bland.
I think I have a full shot in color I will try to upload.
Actually, I rather like it. The bright downward-pointing triangle of sky leads the eye to the top of the waterfall, and it's downward motion complements the upward lift of the dark tree in the foreground to right of center. Then the dark triangle of the top of the tree contrasts with the bright triangle of the sky and it all starts over again. Even the angles work for me (for example, the waterfall angled away from the center of the composition while the tree first complements, then contrasts with it.) The light -- luminosity -- is attractive to me, too: it seems to be appropriate for what I imagine a rain forest would look like on a cloudy day.
I have to agree with the comments of 'mjs' above. I found that my vision immediately went to the waterfall - IMHO, a mark of a well thought and structured shot, and only then moved to, and appreciated the other image elements.
