Stone Patterns

I find macro landscape patterns (I've heard others describe these as 'intimate landscapes') the most difficult type of landscape to do, but they give me the greatest pleasure when they work. Often this has to do with a composition that has an internal 'logic' or 'balance', but which has not been 'doctored' by the photographer by moving stones etc. (my 'rules' for this type of work).

In this case I thought the brighter stones made great patterns against the sculpted sandstone on the shore...
