The calm that sometimes occurs when it's very cold can be very enjoyable.

You should have heard the ice making noise, like submarine sonars - *ping* - reverberating through the whole area. Very cool. It was one of those awesome natural powers that can make any human feel humility.

Beautiful. The noises the ice makes have to be heard to be believed. I have heard squeaking and moaning that you would swear come from humpback wales, and just about any other sound you can imagine.
