Owner at photo shop

This is the oldest photography retail shop in Palma de Mallorca.

I went into the shop with the Leica hanging on my shoulder. He asked about my Voigtländer lens, as it didn't look like a leica lens. I handed it to him and he offered me to try his old collapsible Summicron in like new condition.

While he was examining my lens, I set the shutter to 1/60 and the opening to f:2, focused and shooted him.

He said: you will never see anything like that Summicron. Several days later I confirmed it. I gave him a fiber copy of the photo that he really appreciated. I asked about the Summicron, but it is unlikely he will part with it.

Thanks god they still sell film, developer, paper...

Great photo! I'm sure he'd be delighted with it.

You're also very lucky to have what seems to be a well stocked traditional photo shop!

Fantastic photo and story. Reminds me of a very similar shop in in Venice Denis P. and I stumbled upon in Feb (though he was a Rolleiflex afficianado).
Both men obviously take great pride in their appearances, their shops, their knowledge and care of their businesses and their own personal equipment. This is a rare thing to find and I relish and support it when I find it.

just very simply, fantastic!

Thanks for posting.

Very nice image, with a strong mood of enthusiasm.

I often hear suspicion that there is anything special to an image made by a Leica lens. I think this photo confirms that there is something special, indeed.

It doesn't matter where in the world they are, those shops are just great places.

Wonderful rendition of a scene too infrequently seen, these days.

Beautiful quality to be seen throughout.

Cheers

That is a great story.

Beautiful picture and a great story. How I wish such stores existed in the US. It seems that all that's left is mass-produced, strip-mall mediocrity.

Wow, amazing picture and great story. I had the same feeling a week ago when I discovered a photo shop specialized in darkroom equipment just 10 min drive from where I work. If I manage to take a similar picture I will post it here. These are special places that you don't see often these days.
