Abandoned

This building was close to the road we traveled very often. On the last day of our stay I dicided to leave the car and take two pictures.

Detail and tones in the wall are great. The lamp above the door seems to blend in with the wall more than is ideal, which is a pity. Making it stand out a little more might be difficult but if there was a way of making it stand out from the wall I think this would improve the picture.

This print would probably take split toning very well. Perhaps selenium and gold. Having the highlights in one tone, and the dark areas in a second tone would make a powerful impression.

Robert,

Read Tim Rudman's book on toning. It's a great introduction and detailed set of instructions.

This is great. It is nice to see a well thought out comp. and exposed possibly with a tripod to give it the best sharpness.
Don't see 35mm this good very often.

Thomas,
A possible fix for the light above the door is selective bleaching. It will bring the lamp right out from the wall.
My kind of work. Beautifully composed and printed. Thanks for sharing. I use an OM-1, and I'd be hard pressed to give it up. Bought two bodies in 1973, and they've been overhauled twice.
I admire your work very much. Keep it up.
