Duchess of Sutherland

Standing on Alexandra Palace ststion in foul weather. Head a whistle and saw this approaching at 60mph. No time to meter properly so I guessed the exposure and hoped for the best. I didn't have time to change lenses so I had to crop heavily - hence the grain. Not brilliant in purely technical terms, but I'm quite pleased with it!

good that you still have those things running (I assume on occasions only - turistic attraction maybe). Here they are all parked in museums and is hard to take a good shot. nice, I love old locomotives.

Rob. Looks like there's the trappings of the dreaded electric cables above but fortunately they are faint. Might be worth a go with dodging or bleach to eliminate the wires. Then it's a good shot made even better.

If you like old days railways and haven't been, try the North Yorks Moors Railway at Pickering. Fantastic.
