Carol spotted it first - definitely unsettling for her! After I made a few plates, Gayle and I grabbed it by the legs and pulled it out of the pool. We then took it down the canyon a ways to let nature take its course...
It's almost like documentary style collodion work. Very macabre, but successful in that, as my stomach is turning inside out looking at it (I do get queasy looking at dead things).
I admire your skills greatly. Gorgeous looking plate.

got to love the Masterview...I would love to see the original print.....this image must be incredibly beautiful printed large! The half under water half on top really works well creating that multi dimentional feel.
I did not think this was going to appeal to me from seeing the thumbnail, but looking at the full image, I think this is one of the best images you have made in a long time. There is an incredible tranquility about the image, which lends a surreal 'death defying' quality to it. Something about the position of the young deer's head, with open eyes and nostrils clear of the water lead you to question when or how exactly life departs. There are a lot of photos taken of 'dead stuff' that have little real merit to me - almost false/cheap poignancy - but this is one of the very best, if not the best I have seen.
