I was suprised at how close the colour and B&W came in the contest but the B&W still wins on atmosphere

I would hazard a guess that if the scan did do justice to the color print then I would expect the viewers to have a tougher time choosing which version...color or black & white... they preferred.
 
I think color gives a special scenic mood here. BW might work in a cloudy sky.

Is this the only view point you have used?
I think if you for instance made de front with the baskets a larger portion of the picture you would get a better picture. I see 3 or 4 different picture in this harbour. As said in the color less is more.
