Grass and bunker

On the "ligne Maginot", we visited a bunch of bunkers. The mood was sinister, as they are a remnant from a sad period of history, but this weed growing at this place looked full of hope.

Unfortunate it is that many viewers will not pickup on what they are looking at and will not grasp what you wish to express in your print. I would go back and try once again to photograph elements that express this thought.

I think you have done pretty well here. The weeds speak to the fact that left alone, nature will eventually heal the scars wrought by man. So here's one vote for saying that your picture works pretty well.

My father fought here in this town during the middle of December 1945. He was with the 103rd Division Infantry. What our GIs did here is nothing short of remarkable. This mountain range forms a natural defense barrier & had never been penetrated until the U.S. did it in WWII. Someday I would love to follow my father's footsteps through France, Germany. What brought you to this town?

Thanks for your comments. I'm currently very focused on this opposition between the fragile grass that will overcome concrete, stone and whatever mankind try to put on it's way (may be I listen Pete Seeger too much ;-) )

Rick : my brother in law who happens to be also my best friend lives nearby this place. We spent one extended weekend at their place, and had the opportunity to spend some time photographing.
