Summer of 1964, the Block Island Ferry, the 'Quonset' at dock in Pt. Judith, RI. Shot with a Minolta SR2 using Anscochrome film. This was during the summer of 1964, and check out the cars waiting on the dock if you need to verify this.
Τhe years have past. Meanwhile, the red track, you were aiming, smashed your camera. But, thanks God, you are alive. Touching picture for those who want to remember.
Couldn't put my finger on why but before reading the details of it being 1960s Anscochrome, I thought it had the vintage look. I wondered where I had seen something like it before and then it came to me. It was in the R Hicks/F Schultz "Film Book" and was of a shot of old biplanes. I think the sky was the giveaway. The skies in both shots look very similar.
I like the colours actually but I am not a saturated colours fan anyway
we too used to pick up the BI ferry here in galilee.
i haven't been there in years. thanks for reminding me
(with this classic shot!) to go back there sometime
As always, appreciate the comments and observations.
Kyprianos, I used the SR2 for many years, until it developed problems, which to my mind at the time were unsolvable - today I would probably sent it out for a CLA and repairs. Pentaxuser, and Sean, the slide was pretty faded, which I think was the problem with the brand, and I had to work with it to restore the saturation at least. I am not sure if it is true to the original anymore. John, I last went over a couple of years ago - my reaction was that it looked the same, but was much more crowded than I remembered.
George
I like the sound of 'Classic Shot' and 'Vintage'
