Flatbed scan of untoned FB 8x10. Hand held 35mm. Got over to Bodie one day while camping at Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite... MF and LF gear out with light leaks, took the 35mm. The former mining "Ghost Town" is now a State Park and in the state of "Arrested Decay".. which, unfortunately leads it to appear more and more like a Hollywood western movie set.
I feel that it is a very pleasant shot, but that it is neither one thing nor the other. To me, the foreground does not quite work, partly because the object in the lower right does not resemble anything in particular and the lower left is empty. That might have worked if the grass was pleated dried hay or something with dynamic lines. Perhaps it would have been stronger if you had used different foreground interest or perhaps isolated the building, concentrating more on its texture and the lean it has. As a minor aside, using a 24mm lens and hyperfocal focusing, looking at this scene it would appear that you could have opened up by at least a stop, giving a touch more resolution that f22 will allow on the small neg. You might have lost a tiny amount in the LR and LL corners (I doubt it) but gained a fair amount when it comes to good resolution with the building, cart etc. Doesn't look like there is a huge amount for you have to have played with in this regard, so not easy.... This was a far tougher shot to get right than it looks at first glance. I like the shot, but feel it does not quite hold me.
