I haven't been able to resist printing at least one snow scene per session since it's so warm in my darkroom this time of year. I remember this exposure was about 12 minutes long so I was able to go inside and stand by the fireplace for most of it! The scene was lit by a single light hidden behind a tree branch at the top of the scene so I placed the shadows on zone 5 and used semistand development with Rodinal at 1:200 for half an hour. It really seems to tame these crazy contrasty scenes.

Thanks fellows. This is a scene I see every night and enjoy but I found it irresistible with the fresh dusting of late spring snow. I certainly work and respond to my surroundings in a different way at night. These are something I plan to explore further while I try and finish printing 10 copies of my Pond Scum Portfolio... At least these won't bury me in film developing.
