I haven't been able to resist printing at least one snow scene per session since it's so warm in my darkroom this time of year. I remember this exposure was about 12 minutes long so I was able to go inside and stand by the fireplace for most of it! The scene was lit by a single light hidden behind a tree branch at the top of the scene so I placed the shadows on zone 5 and used semistand development with Rodinal at 1:200 for half an hour. It really seems to tame these crazy contrasty scenes.

Holds back the highlights - and it's a dirt cheap way of doing it! :smile: I use semistand most of the time too, and love it. I have a bottle of Rodinal - I'll try it with that too.
I love the quality of the light in this print, Shawn. There is such impact and presence. Well done!
