Wal-Mart Parking Lot

9.5x6.25 inch silver enlargement
&
4.5x3.25 inch silver enlargement

Now that I feel like I have my process, both for printing and expossing/developing my night work, I'm revisiting some older negs and making not only my favored "little prints" but also a larger 9.5 inch version. This is a scan of the larger size print. I've settled on a lightly colored image for my daylight pictures but still like the night stuff straight up.

Very interesting. It seems to epitomize Walmart quite well. I have been thinking of taking a photograph just like that for a while. Thanks for the inspiration!

Surreal, Shawn. The two trees, the only thing natural in this photograph, seem so out of place... What is the world coming to?

What in the daytime would be a glimpse into Walmart's sterile environment, really become quite magical after dark, when the superfluous gets stripped away. The commonplace items becomes transformed into something else, those only being limited by our imaginations. For istance, is that really a light on a pole, or something else?

Fabulous. I love the fact that there are those trees, and the way the lights seem to exist for those trees -- and yet there we are, parking lot, shopping carts -- the composition is exquisite, with that line that takes you back -- love it. And I like how it's pretty, lonely, and so still, all at the same time.

This is a really cool and interesting photograph. I love the composition and the almost dreamlike characteristics.

And shot with an old K2. Alright!

Marc

Thanks everyone. I'm really into these right now. I've got a lot more printing to do though. Hope to have more up soon.

Marc, I've got two beautiful K2s, one for Rodinal 1:125 for 1 hour and the other for Rodinal 1:200 for 1/2 hour (with the exposure greatly increased of course). Love 'em and especially the glass.

George and Ellen, you really echoed my feelings about this image. Thanks again. Shawn
