I'd seen this woodland detail on a prior walk with my dog, but no camera, and came back yesterday to make a photograph. The hardest part of all this has been to make the negative scan resemble the print (11x14) which this pretty much does. It's unusual for me because I used an 8.5" exposure @ grade 1.5 plus .5"@ grade 5 with some burning and dodging at grade 1.5. I was trying to convey the light values and their summer sensibility and decided that softer would better obtain that expression.

This is a beautiful print. Such a simple subject rendered in a stunning fashion. I envy your skill.

Thank you all very much for your comments. Brian, I've reprinted this one stop smaller and a bit less than twice the exposure (16" base @ G1.5, , and 2" @ G5...lower half only) and made some more nuanced burn and dodge manipulations at G 0 which are indeed more subtle and easier to control. Thanks for the suggestion.
