This works really well. If I was to be really picky, I would have liked to see her toes outstretched and with some seperation. It always amazes me how many nudes I see where the photographer doesn't even include the models feet in the frame. No nude is complete without them (where the pose allows). All in all though, very very nice. I hope my critique does not offend.
No offence at all, Stoo. I find being told that there's not enough contrast a bit irksome at times, but I always welcome compositional and emotional feedback.
I completely agree with you about feet. They are an amazing part of the body, but sadly one of the most overlooked.
I agree with Stoo. I would also like to add that the toes can offer a look into how relaxed the model is. In this case the feet look a bit tense. This is a small thing and does not detract from the image.
Aside from the little piggies I really like the image presented this way. I like how the cloth is darker at the knees and the lt and rt sides are the same and lighter.
I'm always fascinated by the things people pick up on in these critiques. I would never have considered the toes a problem, but instead would have concentrated on a legion of other irritations. Thanks again, everyone: I appreciate your insights.
my concern Ian is with the space between the frames... what about less space, the images closser... I like this tryptic, a lot, and love to see the previous one... you have a lot of potential here... about feet, to me is OK.
The central and right images have much deeper shadows than the left image which makes it look a little unbalanced lighting wise (or possibly contrast) to me. If you follow the leg from the left image to to the centre image, there is a big shift in tone which doesn't look right. Otherwise really nice.
Thanks Rob. I hadn't seen this, perhaps because it's much less evident in the prints (although it's still there). Interestingly I made two versions of the left photo - I gave this one half a stop more exposure because the Polaroid was too dark. Maybe I should print the other and see what it looks like... Thanks again.
