Self Portrait

Maybe could have been a bit less exposed as far as the cyanotype. I've recently discovered the paper I like to use seems to have changed. This is using the old paper I have left. The new stuff causes the cyanotype solution to darken on the ridges or something... more texture looking, worse exposure times (longer), harder to tell how the exposure is going too and when left to soak in water to develop, it gets weird oil-like splodgey marks on the back of the paper. I guess my only choice now is bockingford since I don't like arches aquaelle or buxton (neither clears very well for me).

I somehow felt the need to take this self portrait. The mark on my neck/collarbone is from a seatbelt due to minor car accident. I'm too short obviously...

arches platine clears well with conventional cyanotype but it does have a flat surface

Thanks Phil. I guess that's the next paper to try. I did like having a fairly cheap alternative to play with. I was surprised at how poorly the Buxton and Arches Aquaelle papers cleared. I think I soaked them for at least half an hour and still had sickly looking green people. I tried soaking them in acidic water (a bit of dissolved citric acid in the normal tap water), it won't budge.
